Myrtle "Edilee" Noland

M. Edilee Noland, a beloved member of the Chanute, Kansas community, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on June 8, 1931, in Chanute, she spent her entire life in the heart of this vibrant town, where she enriched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. Edilee was the cherished daughter of Edward L. and Edith M. (Eastburn) Beggs. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her sister Lauretta Beggs Rumsey, and her brothers J.D. Beggs, Eugene Beggs, and Lewis Beggs. The loss of her sons, Edwin Noland and Ted Noland, left a deep void in her heart, but she carried on with grace and resilience, finding joy in her family and community. She is survived by her loving daughters, Shari Ratliff and husband Mickey Ratiff, Tari Noland, and Joni Noland Baker, who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Edilee was a proud grandmother to Nick Noland, Nash Noland, Travis Ratliff, Shalee Ratliff, and Heather Stout, and her heart swelled with joy at the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Hunter Yoho, Brody and Bristol Noland and Nate Johnson. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Edilee graduated from Grant Township High School in Stark, Kansas, in 1948, and went on to have a fulfilling career as an administrative assistant. She dedicated her professional life to organizations such as Consolidated, Oil Patch, Bonanza Oil, Hogoboon Oil, and Guinotte Brothers, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic and friendly demeanor. Beyond her professional endeavors, Edilee was an active member of her community. She was proud to be part of the VFW Auxiliary #1147 and the American Legion Auxiliary #0170, where she volunteered her time and efforts to support fellow veterans and their families. Her zest for life was evident in her many hobbies and interests. An avid bowler, she enjoyed spending time at the lanes, and she loved visiting the casino for a little excitement. Edilee found tranquility on her pontoon boat at Toronto Lake, where she reveled in fishing and the beauty of nature. She also had a passion for crossword puzzles, often challenging her mind and sharing her love for words with family and friends. Her culinary skills were unmatched, with her famous fried chicken and marshmallow jello becoming legendary among her loved ones and their friends. Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, 2025 with the family greeting friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service to celebrate her remarkable life will be held at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery on July 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, an organization that was close to Edilee's heart. Memorials can be left with Countryside Funeral Home. Edilee will be remembered not only for her loving spirit but also for the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Her legacy of love, perseverance, and joy will continue to shine through her family and the countless lives she touched.
