Maggie Louise Ranz

Maggie Ranz, 96, passed away at Allen County Regional Hospital on March 26, 2019. She was born in Vernon County, MO on August 2, 1922, the daughter of Henry B. and Ada Anna (Mowry) Clark. She attended schools and graduated in that area. She was united in marriage to Ray Ranz on June 9, 1945 in Ft. Scott, KS. He preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage in 1995. After moving to Chanute, Maggie was a nurse aide and worked at the SEK TB Hospital for eleven years until it closed. She then worked at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 1991. Maggie was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma who liked to travel, especially on bus trips, and was proud to say she visited all of the 48 continental United States. She loved doing handwork and was excellent at her craft. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, but time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, was her favorite way to spend her time. Maggie was a faithful and active member of Chanute First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School for several years and was proudly known as “The Cookie Lady.” She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include: Children: Maurice Ranz and wife Nancy of Chanute, KS Stephen Ranz of Chanute, KS Sister: Rosemary Null of Raymore, MO Sister-in-Law: Jenney Clark of Everett, MA Grandchildren: Jared Ranz and wife Heidi of Chanute, KS Nicholas Ranz of Chanute, KS Great-Grandchildren: Madison Ranz Parker Ranz Brooklyn Ranz Connor Ranz Hudson Ranz Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; five sisters, Ruby Barritt, Hazel Leonard, Vera Leonard, Fern Sumner, and Alice Roberts; brother, Bill Clark; infant sister, Jessie Clark; and two infant brothers, Melvin and Glenn Clark. A visiation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Chanute First Baptist Church followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place that afternoon at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, MO at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
