John Rex Stout

John Rex Stout, 67, of Earlton, KS passed away in Wichita, KS on November 14, 2017. He was born in Chanute, KS on January 1, 1950 to Ray and Lola (Provin) Stout. On December 24, 1969, he married Rebecca “Becky” Vadnais in Yates Center, KS. She survives at their home. John lived his whole life in this area and graduated from Thayer in 1968 and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from war, he was a track laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad before retiring due to disability. John loved his family above all else. He loved to travel and visited all 50 states with Becky. Plaid shirts with a pocket and blue jeans were his clothing of choice and he loved his Pepsi. In his spare time, he enjoyed his tractors, gardening, and making trips to the casino. He was a member of the DAV and Chanute VFW and attended Westview Southern Baptist Church. John leaves behind a multitude of family and friends who he loved dearly. Stout and wife Amber of Chanute, KS Brothers: Sam Stout of Earlton, KS Ron Morris and wife Daisy of Earlton, KS Mother-In-Law: Anna Belle Reed of Buhler, KS Sibling In-Laws: Jerry Vadnais and wife Beth of Wichita, KS Craig Reed and wife Krista of Winfield, KS Trisha Burgey and husband Larry of Hutchinson, KS Donna Stout Janet Stout Grandchildren: Carly Parker and Jonny Colbert of Broomfield, CO Camren Parker of St. Paul, KS Jaxson, Harrison, Imerson, and Lileigh Vaughn of Earlton, KS Taylor, Trevin Elam and Bryce Stout of Chanute, KS Great-Grandson: Carson Colbert A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Johnson Chapel. A funeral service will be held immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Earlton Cemetery in Earlton, KS. Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. The family invites everyone to attend a lunch after the service at Knights of Columbus at 325 W. 21st Street in Chanute, KS. Memorials have been suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Westview Southern Baptist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
