Audrey Anne Standfast

Audrey Anne Standfast, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 1, 1936, in Arkansaw, Wisconsin, Audrey was the cherished daughter of Frank and Lucy (Biogenzahn) Pittman. She lived a life rich in love, generosity, and community spirit, leaving a vibrant legacy that will be remembered by all who knew her. Audrey graduated from Arkansaw High School and soon after wed her devoted husband, Paul A. Standfast, on October 2, 1958 in Arkansaw, Wisconsin. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter until Paul’s passing, which left a profound void in her heart. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings—Francis, Ray, Cyril, Lucille, and her twin brother, Art Pittman. Even in her loss, she always found strength in her family, which became her greatest source of joy. Audrey is survived by her four loving children: Donald (Rhonda) Standfast, Patty Ungles, Diane (Kevin) Myers, and Vicki (Doug) Murphy. She took immense pride in her family, including her grandchildren—Matthew Murphy, Erin Murphy, Brent (Christina) Myers, Mandi Myers, Bethany Ungles, and Rachel Ungles—as well as her great-grandchildren, Lily and Luke Myers and brother Eugene Pittman. Each of them carried a piece of her heart, and she often spoke of how they filled her life with meaning and happiness. A talented seamstress, Audrey retired from the National Garment Factory, where her skill and precision made her a favorite among the local residents. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, having performed countless alterations for the clothes of Chanute residents. Beyond her work, Audrey embraced her community with open arms. Since 1966, she was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, engaging deeply through her involvement with the St. Patrick's Altar Society, the Bargain Store, the Daughters of Isabella, as well as participating in bowling leagues and the Do-Si-Do Square Dancing Club. Her commitment to her faith and community was steadfast, reflecting her nurturing spirit. Audrey loved to travel, go on walks, bake delicious treats, and sew beautiful garments. Each of these passions brought her joy and allowed her to connect with others. Her warm smile and kind heart drew people in, and she established friendships that spanned decades. Audrey’s love for life was infectious, and her laughter would brighten the dullest of days. As we gather to celebrate Audrey’s life, we remember her unwavering love for her family and her community. She taught us the importance of kindness, resilience, and the joy that comes from helping one another. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Patrick's Catholic School, an institution that she held dear to her heart. Audrey Anne Standfast's family invites all those who knew her to join in honoring her memory. Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home on Monday, December 29, 2025 with the family greeting friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Reciting of the Rosary will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be held at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul, Kansas. Although she has left this world, her spirit will continue to inspire us to cherish our loved ones and to carry forward her legacy of love. She will be dearly missed but forever held in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Audrey. Your love will live on in all of us.
