Alan Dale Cox

Alan Dale Cox, 56, of rural Chanute, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home with his family by his side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Alan was born on May 26, 1959 in Chanute, KS the son of Dale & Margaret (Shultz) Cox. Alan attended Chanute schools and graduated from Chanute High School in 1978. Alan was involved in 4-H, where he participated in many area sheep shows with his family. He started his career path working for his parents at Bell Auto Body Shop. He was also a substitute rural mail carrier while developing the family farm. Alan was most currently working side by side with his wife, Debbie, owning and operating A & D Cox Farms, Inc. He had great pride in the family farm they established, growing corn, wheat, soybeans, and raising cattle. On September 25, 1982, Alan married Debra Reinhardt at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Their greatest accomplishment was raising their three children. Alan enjoyed both spending time, and traveling with friends. He loved waterskiing, motorcycle rides, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren. Alan was a member of Big Creek Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He also served on the board of Rural Water District #12. Alan was preceded in death by his father Dale Fleming Cox. Alan is survived by his wife Debbie of 33 years, three children: Ashley (Cox) Bowman, husband Nick of Rock, KS, Jason Dale Cox, wife Natalie of Chanute, and Jenell Cox of Chanute; five grandchildren: Nelson, Lacey, Dalton, Kalvin and Wyatt; his mother, Margaret Cox of Chanute; sisters, Charlotte (Cox) Cooper, husband Jim of Chetopa and Brenda (Cox) Dillow, husband John of Chanute; father and mother-in-law, Loy and Janis Reinhardt of Erie, KS; brother–in–law, Mark Reinhardt, wife Linda; sister-in-law, Sherry Reinhardt, husband John Hultgren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. Family requests memorials in memory of Alan be made to the Neosho County 4-H Development Fund, Angel Flight, or Big Creek Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N.
